John Anderson Fine Art Photography | About

Ever since I was a child, I always had a camera in my hand. Everything I see in my life, I see as a photograph. Photography to me is the process of combining what lies before me and what I see in my imagination. I was about five when I got a Kodak 110 as a present. Ever since then I would always see a scene in front of me while also seeing it in my mind. My sense of being an artist was to combine the two scenes into one photograph. Owning a business that my father started over sixty-six years ago and that I have been a part of since I was fifteen meant learning how to make a client happy. That means providing a level of service so exceptional that they would remember me for years and refer their friends and family to me as well. It has been my experience that in order to be successful, you have to provide the highest level of service, always. For me, it wasn’t just about pointing the camera at some boys playing a game, it was about two things. First, it was about making them look super, larger than life, making them look heroic. Secondly, it was about capturing their emotion. Like any athlete who pours their heart and soul into a game, emotions run high. There are tears spilled when they succeed as well as fail. Capturing that emotion has been one of the biggest joys of my life. And capturing that same aesthetic in my photography has become my distinctive style that makes my portfolio of work recognizable. I believe art should be something that involves the viewer emotionally as well. Whether it be an athlete that I want to make look heroic, or a model or bride whose beauty I want to capture, I want to combine it with a strong emotional cord that makes everyones portrait their own masterpiece. I currently reside in Jacksonville, Florida with my wife Ann, and our two children.
